50th Birthday Gift: The Newspaper from the Day They Were Born

Fifty is the midpoint from which you look both ways. A newspaper from the day of birth brings the beginning back: the headlines, the song on the radio, the weather outside the hospital. And it tells the birthday guest what you value in them today.

A look inside the paper

A sample Birthday Paper: front page with photo and lead story, news of the day, weather and hit song, calendar page, birthday twins and a personal message.

Three ideas for giving it

Lay it out at the party. Print a few copies and put them on the tables. Guests read, compare and tell where they were back then.
Give it together with friends. Everyone records a sentence on the greeting page. One present becomes a collection of voices.
Framed. The front page printed in A3 and framed is still on the wall long after the flowers have faded.
