A look inside the workshop
How your birthday newspaper is made
A Birthday Paper is the newspaper that never existed on the day someone was born: it tells what was happening in the world on exactly that day and ties it to the person who arrived. Here we show openly where the news comes from, what is in it and what happens to your details.
Four steps to your newspaper
- You tell us a little. First name, date of birth and place of birth are enough. If you like, add a few sentences about the person: job, hobbies, a shared memory. It takes a minute.
- We look up the day. Our workshop collects the events, hit songs and weather of exactly that day from documented sources.
- The paper is typeset. Articles, calendar page, birthday twins and a personal section, laid out like a real daily newspaper.
- It arrives by email. As a PDF, plus the link to the greeting page. Usually within 15 minutes; orders placed at night arrive from 8 a.m.

Where the news comes from
We invent nothing. Every item in the paper traces back to a source you can look up:
- Encyclopedias and year-in-review articles in the language of the country: what happened on this day and in this week in politics, sport, culture and science?
- Number-one hit lists: Which song was at the top back then? On the greeting page you can play it straight away on YouTube or Spotify.
- A weather archive: Measured values for the place of birth: high and low temperature, rain and hours of sunshine on exactly that day.
- The calendar page: What happened on the same date in other years, and which well-known people share that birthday?
From these facts an AI writes the articles in its own words and in the tone of a newspaper. It may only use what is in the sources. Where the sources are thin, the paper gets shorter, not more made-up.
What is in the newspaper
You choose the length. The price stays the same; more pages simply mean more stories from the day and the year of birth.
| Length | Who it suits | What is inside |
|---|---|---|
| 4 pages | Short and warm | Front page with photo and lead story, news of the day, weather and hit song, calendar page, birthday twins, personal message |
| 6 pages | The popular middle | Everything from 4 pages, plus more reports from the country and the world, more culture and two articles on the year of birth |
| 8 pages | For browsers | Many more articles about the day and the world, plus four articles on the year of birth |
| 10 pages | The big edition | The most stories from the day and a look back at the year of birth with seven articles, especially nice for milestone birthdays |
The personal section
What you tell us about the person becomes an article of its own: “The person today”. Your message and signature come with it. We put a photo on the front page. We only write what you tell us. If you write nothing, that part stays short.
The greeting page, online for one year
Every paper comes with a small web page of its own. A QR code in the paper leads there. On it you can:
- record your message right in the browser
- upload a video message recorded with your phone
- add a photo
- make the paper available to browse and download
The page stays online for twelve months, on phone and computer. After that we delete it with all files automatically.

Your data
We only ask for what the paper needs. Payment goes through Digistore24; we never see payment details. The greeting page and everything you upload are deleted after twelve months. Greeting pages are blocked for search engines; only people with the link can open them.
Frequently asked questions
From which birth year is the paper available?
For every day from 1946 to today. For earlier years the sources are too patchy to fill a whole paper honestly.
Can I print the paper?
Yes, as often as you like. The PDF is set for A4, at home or at a print shop.
What does it cost?
€14.90, one-off. The price is the same whether you choose 4, 6, 8 or 10 pages. There is no subscription.
How do I pay?
Through Digistore24, with PayPal, card or Klarna. We never see payment details ourselves.
Is anything made up?
No. Every item traces back to a source. If there is little for a day, the paper gets shorter, not more invented. We write personal parts only from what you tell us about the person.
Which languages is it available in?
German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Polish. The news looks at the respective country.
