• 1559 Elizabeth I is crowned Queen of England and Ireland in Westminster Abbey. Under her reign, England becomes a world power.
• 1609 The first issue of Aviso Relation oder Zeitung is published in Wolfenbüttel. It is one of the first newspapers in Germany.
• 1885 The Imperial Patent Office publishes the patent granted retroactively to Paul Nipkow for the Nipkow disk named after the inventor. The emerging mechanical television is based on it.
• 1895 Johann Jacobs establishes a “specialty shop for coffee, tea, cacao, chocolates and biscuits” in Bremen, the beginning of Jacobs Kaffee.
