• 1401 A fleet of the Hanse under the command of the Hamburger Simon von Utrecht succeeds in confronting the Vitalien Brothers and defeating them in a naval battle off Helgoland. Klaus Störtebeker, the leader of the sea pirates, is taken aboard the flagship Bunte Kuh as a prisoner.
